A New Adventure Awaits

I have always been an educator at heart, I loved being in my classroom teaching and learning from my students. My passion has always been the young learners....hence the blog name 😊 The last 10 years have been spent in both the private and public Pre-K and Kindergarten classrooms.

One day I realized that I had become too comfortable just teaching within the four walls of my classroom. The relationships that I had formed with my students when they were with me carried on even when they moved on. Not only did I maintain relationships with them but I had an innate ability to form relationships with their older siblings, cousins, you name it. It wasn't until I saw the impact that I was having outside my classroom that I understood what people had been telling me all along....I WAS A BORN LEADER!

And so my journey begins...

I decided to take a chance on myself and apply to become a principal fellow at NC State University. This was my second time applying and I was a little discouraged from not getting in the first time. But it all worked out because shortly after applying the first time, I found out that I was pregnant with my third child. God knew it would be hard for me to focus with a newborn so he allowed that door to close.

God's timing is the best timing and this year I reapplied and GOT IN!!! I was so excited to be one of the chosen few. I am enjoying the program so far, it is really opening up my eyes to social justice and the importance of self reflection and building relationships. I look forward to seeing exactly where this journey will take me and I am making sure to enjoy every moment along the way!

Now, I will leave you with my first Thompson Tidbit..

Thompson's Tidbits - Don't ever give up on yourself! The timing may not always be right, but when it is you will know it! Keep striving and working towards your goals no matter how far out of reach they may seem!
